New Garden Landscape Fabric Created by Veterinary Surgeon,

Scheduled to Appear on QVC and Amazon

West Chester, PA (April 25, 2016) – Punch N Plant Weed Block, a revolutionary landscape fabric designed to make gardening easier and more efficient, is scheduled to debut on QVC® and Amazon.com.

David Levine is scheduled to debut his Punch N Plant Weed Block on QVC on Tuesday, April 26th at 6am (ET). The product is available on Amazon currently.

Punch N Plant Weed Block is a black landscape fabric that is perforated in a versatile design to make plant placement easy and help reduce weeds. Levine came up with the idea and created the designs while working in his own garden in West Chester, PA.

“I have perfected the design over the last several growing seasons with input from my friends and neighbors,” said Levine, whose undergraduate degree was from the engineering school, Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

“Punch N Plant makes gardening easy and fun, all for a minimal cost,” Levine said. “Punch N Plant is truly a time saver.”

Each roll of pre-perforated, heavy-duty polypropylene fabric is 20 feet long by 2 feet wide. Each square foot has 9 optional holes, 2.5 inches in diameter, allowing for optimal plant placement.

The price for each roll of Punch N Plant Weed Block will range from $19.99 to $24.99, depending on the retailer.

The Punch N Plant Weed Block design allows gardeners to plant any combination of plants and/or seeds, including larger plants.  Although the perforations are designed with vegetable gardening in mind, the versatility makes it ideal for flower and shrub beds as well.

“Each square foot is perforated so it can adapt to any garden size and shape without the need for scissors,” Levine said. “Punch N Plant will help you achieve a perfect garden with minimal effort, and maximize plants-per-square-foot.”

Each garden can be customized, depending on the types of plants chosen. A planting guide can be found on the website explaining how many plants of each type can fit in each square foot, and where they should be placed.

The Punch N Plant Weed Block fabric is water and nutrient permeable. Made from high-quality, thick polypropylene, the fabric is easier to work with and blocks light. It helps to retain heat and warm the soil.

The Punch N Plant Weed Block Perforated Landscape Fabric (QVC Item #M50644) is scheduled to be available, while supplies last, beginning April 26th through QVC.com, the QVC apps or by calling 800.345.1515.

POCOPSON >> A township man’s persistent tinkering took a step toward paying off financially this week when he appeared on QVC to hawk his new gardening product.

David Levine debuted his Punch N Plant Weed Block on the West Goshen-based home shopping network Tuesday at 6 a.m.

The garden product also is available on Amazon.com.

“It’s been an incredible experience,” Levine said of bringing an idea he had while tending to his garden to market.

Levine, 37, said the idea-to-product process took about two years. He enjoyed working in the garden with his two daughters, Ella, 5, and Torrin, 3, but he found the weed prevention materials available on the market not up to his standards.

“I couldn’t believe something like this didn’t exist,” he said, calling other products on the market cheap and ineffective. “If something like this did exist, I would have bought it.”

He and his wife, Meagan Smith, are both veterinarians at Penn’s New Bolton Center in southern Chester County. He is an animal surgeon while she goes on house calls for large animals.

They live on a 3 ½-acre spread in the township with chickens and also own two horses that they keep off-site.

“My wife says I’m always tinkering, but this is my first invention,” said Levine, whose undergraduate degree was from the engineering school Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Levine said he will be attending two national trade shows in coming months and hopes that Punch N Plant will be picked up by national retailers; he also plans to market it to independent hardware store owners.
